Sölt Fitness & Medspa · May 12, 2026 · Reformer Pilates
Starting Reformer Pilates for the first time can feel intimidating — the machine looks complicated, the studio might be full of regulars, and it’s easy to assume everyone else already knows what they’re doing. At Sölt Fitness & Medspa in Miami’s Design District, that’s exactly the experience we designed against. Our studio is private and uncrowded on purpose, and every Reformer session is coached from the first minute, so beginners never feel like they’re guessing.
What Reformer Pilates actually is
The Reformer is a spring-loaded machine that adds resistance and support to classic Pilates movements. Instead of relying on body weight alone, the springs let an instructor dial the resistance up or down in real time, which is part of why Reformer Pilates works for such a wide range of fitness levels. At Sölt, our Reformer Pilates sessions run 45 minutes and are built around core strength, control, mobility, and posture — low-impact work that’s easy on the joints but still genuinely challenging.
Because the springs do a lot of the work, Reformer Pilates tends to feel more approachable than free-weight strength training for someone just getting started, while still building real, functional strength over time.
What your first class looks like
You don’t need any Pilates experience to book your first Reformer session. Every class is coached and scalable, meaning the instructor adjusts spring tension, range of motion, and pacing to where you are that day — not where a generic class plan assumes you should be. If it’s your first time on the Reformer, expect your instructor to walk you through the straps, the carriage, and the basic setup before the format picks up.
There’s no judgment if a movement takes a few tries to feel natural; that’s normal, and it’s part of why our members describe Sölt as a no-judgment community rather than a typical class. You’re not just a number here — everyone knows your name, and that includes new members on day one.
Why the Design District setting matters
Sölt is located in Quadro Towers in Miami’s Design District, about a minute north of I-95 — easy to reach whether you’re coming from Midtown, Edgewater, Wynwood, or elsewhere in Miami. Because the studio stays intentionally uncrowded, you’re not fighting for a Reformer or trying to catch an instructor’s eye across a packed room.
It’s part of the reason our community feels the way it does. When a studio isn’t trying to pack in as many people as possible, instructors have room to actually coach, and members have room to actually learn.
Fitting Reformer Pilates into your week
Reformer Pilates classes run several times a week at Sölt, including both morning and evening options, so it’s realistic to build a consistent routine around work and family schedules. If you want the exact days and times for this week, the current schedule is always posted on our Schedule page.
Many members pair Reformer Pilates with our recovery and medspa services — like red light therapy or the massage chair — since neither requires a membership on its own. A Reformer session followed by a few minutes of recovery is one of the most common ways members close out a Sölt visit.
Common beginner questions
Do you need to be flexible first? No — flexibility and mobility are things Reformer Pilates helps build, not a prerequisite for starting. Do you need special shoes? No special equipment is required beyond comfortable workout clothes. Is it just for a certain age or fitness level? Every movement is coached and scalable, so the same class works for a first-timer and a seasoned athlete side by side.
If you’ve been putting off your first Reformer class because you’re not sure you’re “ready,” the honest answer is that readiness isn’t the requirement — showing up is. Book a private consultation and we’ll help you find the class format and schedule that fits where you are right now.
